Before her acting career, Munks trained extensively as a classical ballet, jazz ballet, and tap dancer, and also worked as a dance instructor.

She gained significant fame for her portrayal of Michelle "Brumby" Tucker, an inmate, in the television series Prisoner in 1986.

In addition to her acting career, Sheryl Munks is also a prominent voice artist and a marriage celebrant.
